RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECTS
Airport Police Facility (2021)
This 160,000-square-foot facility consolidates Los Angeles Airport Police (APD) operations from eight different locations, and was designed to accommodate the operations of critical police functions with the infrastructure to support the next generation of law enforcement technologies and best practices. As the hub of public safety and security, the facility houses the largest police agency in the United States dedicated exclusively to 24-hour airport activity.
MORELAX Economy Parking (2021)
The $294.1 million LAX Economy Parking facility, known as the Intermodal Transportation Facility-West (ITF-West) during construction, is Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) new, state-of-the-art approximately 4,300 stall economy parking structure. The four-story, 1.7 million-square-foot facility will be the first component of LAX’s $5.5 billion Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) to be completed and opened to the public on Oct. 19.
MORETerminal 1 (2021)
Two separate projects totaling nearly $980 million, including the complete modernization of Terminal 1 and an extension of the building that will provide future connection to the Automated People Mover (APM) train system and Terminal 2 behind security, have completely revamped Terminal 1. Now home to Allegiant, Frontier, Southwest, Sun Country and Viva Aerobus, Terminal 1 gives visitors the first view of a fully transformed Central Terminal Area (CTA).
MOREWest Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal (2021)
The $1.7 billion West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal, a 15-gate concourse, is among the most modern in the world. Having opened to the public in May 2021, it features cutting-edge technology, stunning architecture, a checked-bag storage system, biometric boarding gates and the latest amenities for travelers to experience.
MORETerminals 7 & 8 (2019)
In early 2019, more than $546 million in modernization work was completed in Terminals 7 and 8, home to United Airlines. This modernization included refreshment of nearly all of the public spaces and consolidation of four Transportation Security Administration screening checkpoints into one 12-lane location, featuring the first Automated Screening Lanes at LAX. The project, which was the first upgrade at Terminals 7 and 8 since 1998, encompassed 700,000 square feet of existing space, as well as the addition of 20,000 square feet for a United Club lounge on a new fourth level of Terminal 7.

Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) South
Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) South, is a part of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)’s multi-billion-dollar Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The project is an extension of the West Gates at Tom Bradley International Terminal and will add approximately 150,000 square feet and eight gates for narrowbody aircraft.

Train System
The Automated People Mover (APM) is the centerpiece of LAX’s $5.5 billion Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP) which will enhance the traveler experience, give guests time-certain access to terminals and provide the long-awaited connection to the regional transportation system. The 30-year, $4.9 billion contract was the largest ever awarded in the City of Los Angeles’ history and was the first Public Private Partnership (P3) contract at LAX. LAX Integrated Express Solutions (LINXS) is the joint venture selected to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the project.
MOREConsolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) Facility
The Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility is one of the major components of LAX’s $5.5 billion Landside Access Modernization Program (LAMP). Scheduled to open in 2023, the ConRAC facility will consolidate rental car operations currently spread across the surrounding area of LAX into one location conveniently located adjacent to the 405 freeway.
MORETerminal Vertical Cores
Terminal Vertical Cores are essentially new front doors to terminals at LAX that allow for vertical circulation of passengers with elevators and escalators, as well as direct connection to the Automated People Mover (APM) train system via elevated pedestrian bridges over World Way. LAX is building three cores – at Tom Bradley International Terminal, between Terminals 5 and 6 (Terminal 5.5) and at Terminal 7 – with $490 million of construction.
MOREReceiving Station X
In cooperation with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is constructing a new $157.8 million power receiving station, Receiving Station X (RS-X) that will address persistent power reliability, redundancy and capacity issues at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). LAWA is responsible for building facilities in the first phase of the project, with LADWP then installing equipment and operating the station.
MORETerminals 2 & 3
Terminals 2 and 3, home to Delta Air Lines, Aeromexico, and WestJet, is currently undergoing a $2.3 billion modernization that broke ground in April 2019. The project includes a new headhouse for Terminals 2 and 3, the complete replacement of the Terminal 3 concourse and original 1961 satellite, a connection behind security between Terminal 3 and Tom Bradley International Terminal and connection to the Automated People Mover (APM) train system. MORETerminals 4 & 5
Terminals 4 and 5, home to American Airlines, JetBlue and Spirit Airlines, is undergoing a $1.6 billion modernization slated to complete in 2027 that will create a centralized location for ticketing, screening and baggage claim with enhanced amenities for guests, as well as provide direct connection to the Automated People Mover (APM) train system.
MORETerminal 6
Construction is underway on a $230 million project that will greatly improve the guest experience at Terminal 6, including a complete overhaul of the gate areas and lounges, and the replacement of passenger boarding bridges. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.
MOREUPCOMING PROJECTS
Airfield & Terminal Modernization Project (ATMP)
The Airfield & Terminal Modernization Program is a multi-billion-dollar group of projects that will include airfield, terminal and landside improvements, with a targeted completion date prior to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The ATMP includes a Concourse 0, Terminal 9, airfield safety improvements and an elevated roadway system. The Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) was released in August 2021 and was certified by the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners for in October 2021. The project is slated to get underway in 2022 with the start of airfield enabling work.
MORENorthside Development
The Northside Development, also known as the bow tie, is an approximately 70-acre section of land located north of Westchester Parkway in which Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will be developing commercial and open space in the coming years. The commercial area includes 901,000 square feet of allowable development for a variety of commercial applications. Nearly 13 acres of land designated for recreational areas will also be built as part of the community benefits of the project.
